FAQ

General Information 2017-2018 ~ Season 42

Sandra Amodeo Dance Studio 9833 Markham Road unit 16, Markham, Ontario L3P 3J3 Tel: 905 471-7449 website: sandrasdance.com

The dance year starting Monday September 11th 2017 and ending in June 2018 will consist of approximately 35 weeks. Class placements are for the entire year and are allocated at the time of registration. However, the teachers will be paying close attention during the first few weeks to ensure that students are in the class level that is most beneficial to them. If we feel a change should be made we will get in touch with you and make the necessary changes. It should be noted that placements are not determined by the number of years a student has danced but rather by his/her capabilities. If enrolment for a particular class is 4 or less, class duration, fees or placement in another class will have to be considered.

Attendance

Missed classes are sometimes unavoidable. However, since continual absences negatively affect the progress of the whole class, every effort should be made to attend all classes. There will be no refunds for missed classes

Annual Recital

Our annual recital and stage rehearsal is held on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday in mid June at the Flato Markham Theatre. You will receive more information about these three spectacular shows as the year progresses.

Costumes

Costumes for the recital are ordered from the USA and a deposit will be required in November. The amount of the deposit is determined by the number of costumes required and you will be advised accordingly.

Parent Viewing

Parent viewing on a regular basis is not permitted as audiences create an environment where students can be made to feel uncomfortable especially, while struggling with new skills. Exceptions are made, of course, when it is necessary for a child to have his/her parent present. As the year progresses and the students feel more ready parents will be periodically invited in to watch. We will also have a Parent Viewing week Monday December 18th to Saturday December 23rd.

Food and Drink

No peanuts or peanut products are permitted on the premises. We encourage the use of reusable food containers and water bottles as we would like to minimize the garbage and try for a waste free space. Students who do have their lunch/dinner at the studio are expected to clean up after themselves. Eating in the dressing rooms is not permitted.
